Believe In Myself

The North Carolina Believe in Myself State Pageant offers individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges an opportunity to experience a night of their dreams come true.  Each contestant will experience the thrill and excitement of standing on a beautifully decorated stage, having the opportunity to dress up and hear the cheering and applause of their family and friends.  No participant goes home empty handed.  Every participant will receive a trophy, and a tiara for the females or a gift for our male division. Any individual who lives in North Carolina, ages 18 months and up with a physical or developmental disability is encouraged to participate.

We are looking forward to a magnificent pageant full of fun and excitement.  The winner of each age division will receive a tiara/crown, trophy, sash, and have the opportunity to raise awareness in their State by representing their title at other pageants, parades, and events in the area.

Our Mission is to:

·         offer opportunities to create memories that will be treasured for a lifetime

·         support and maintain the ongoing rehabilitative needs of each participant by encouraging them to push beyond the limits of their disability while providing a safe competitive environment

·         focus on participants abilities, not their disabilities

·         help individuals discover individuality, develop confidence, and increase social skills and self-esteem

·         provide education regarding physical and developmental disabilities to the community

·         raise awareness throughout the state of the challenges our participants and their families face every day

Proceeds will be used to enhance programs/needs not otherwise covered by available funding such as:

·         therapeutic camps

·         public awareness programs

·         necessary equipment or supplies that increase independence and improve lives
